Pink Line Metro Moves Closer to Launch

Bengaluru’s much awaited Pink Line Metro has moved one step closer to opening as the Railway Board has approved RDSO trials for the train sets.

The Research Designs and Standards Organisation trials are expected to begin by the end of April and will play an important role in determining when the corridor can be opened for public use.

What Are RDSO Trials

RDSO trials are mandatory tests conducted before any metro line can begin operations.

These tests are used to check:

  1. Train performance
  2. Safety systems
  3. Track conditions
  4. Speed and braking response
  5. Overall operational readiness

The process usually takes at least two weeks and is required before the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety gives final approval.

About the Pink Line

The Pink Line is one of the most important metro corridors currently under development in Bengaluru.

The line will cover around 21 km between Kalena Agrahara and Nagawara. It includes a 13 km underground section between Dairy Circle and Nagawara, making it one of the city’s most technically complex metro projects.

The elevated stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere is expected to open first, likely by mid 2026, while the entire corridor is targeted for completion by December 2026.

Train Sets Already Delivered

BEML has already delivered four train sets for the Pink Line.

Initially, four to five train sets are expected to operate on the elevated section when it opens. These trains are designed to be driverless capable and will use advanced signalling technology for smoother operations.

Why the Pink Line Matters

The Pink Line is expected to become a major relief for commuters travelling through some of Bengaluru’s busiest areas.

It will improve connectivity to places such as:

  1. Kalena Agrahara
  2. JP Nagar
  3. Jayadeva Hospital
  4. Dairy Circle
  5. Shivajinagar
  6. Nagawara

The line is especially important because it will connect residential zones with major commercial and business districts, reducing road congestion and travel time.

Real Estate Impact Around the Pink Line

Metro connectivity has always had a strong impact on property demand in Bengaluru.

Areas near the Pink Line are already witnessing growing interest from both buyers and investors. Better connectivity often leads to higher property values, stronger rental demand, and faster development activity.

There is increasing demand for upcoming projects around Kalena Agrahara, JP Nagar, and Bannerghatta Road. Many ongoing projects in Bangalore are also benefiting from the anticipation around the Pink Line.

Developers are actively launching new apartment projects in Bangalore near metro corridors because buyers now prefer locations with shorter travel times and better public transport access. This is also creating more demand for new flats in Bangalore and strengthening the market for real estate projects in Bangalore.
