Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has awarded a contract to Hyderabad-based infrastructure consultancy Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers and Consultants Pvt Ltd to conduct a pre-feasibility study for extending the Metro from Madavara to Tumakuru. This proposed 54.21 km stretch is expected to be elevated and may feature 19 stations, including Makali, Dasanapura, Nelamangala, Budihal, T Begur, Kuluvanahalli, Billanakote, Sompura Industrial Area, Dobbaspet, Chikkahalli, Hirehalli, Pandithanahalli, Kyathasandra, Tumakuru University, and Tumakuru Bus Stand.
If constructed, this extension will become the city's longest Metro line, continuing the green line that currently runs between Anjanapura and Nagasandra. The pre-feasibility study will assess construction costs, traffic surveys, alignment, property acquisition, and potential land acquisition hurdles. Based on the findings, the government will decide whether to approve the proposed Metro line extension.
The pre-feasibility study for the Madavara-Tumakuru Metro extension, the Brigade Group's housing project, and the identification of the Dabaspet site as a potential second airport location highlight the ongoing development of Tumkur road sector.
